The International College of Dentistry at Walailak University

Walailak University is a comprehensive university with a single campus. Its administrative principles are based on “Integrated Services, Coordinated Missions,” with an integrated approach to academic management. Established in response to community and local needs, the university has developed its entire area into an educational park, serving as a resource for formal, non-formal, informal, and lifelong learning. The university welcomed its first cohort of students in the 2008 academic year, initially offering programs through eight schools. Continuing its growth, the university now comprises 13 schools, offering 35 undergraduate programs, 16 master’s programs, and 12 doctoral programs, with a focus on serving as a learning hub for local and regional communities, in line with its unique identity as an ASEAN Educational Park.

Within the Walailak University Development Framework (2011-2015), under the administration of Professor Dr. Sombat Thamrongthanyawong, Acting President of Walailak University, a clear vision and policy were established to establish the School of Dentistry. This initiative expands the university’s educational offerings in health sciences, a field in which the university already possesses significant strengths in teaching and graduate quality, particularly in medicine, nursing, pharmacy, allied health sciences, and public health. This vision and policy to open the School of Dentistry aims to further strengthen the university’s health sciences cluster and to support the upcoming establishment of the Walailak University Medical Center.
