Dean of International College of Dentistry Visits Japan to Strengthen Research Networks and Global Student Exchange.

The International College of Dentistry, Walailak University, led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Poonsak Pisek, Dean, and Dr. Natnicha Wamasing, recently visited the Institute of Science Tokyo in Japan to discuss strategic academic collaborations.

The delegation was warmly received by Professor Kenji Fueki, Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry. The meeting focused on fostering international cooperation, including student exchange programs and the establishment of a joint research network.

During the visit, the delegation met with Professor Haruka Tohara from the Department of Dysphagia Rehabilitation. The discussion centered on knowledge exchange regarding the care of patients with swallowing disorders (Dysphagia) and explored future collaborative research opportunities in this specialized field.

The team also received a guided tour of the Diagnostic Imaging Center at both the Medical and Dental Hospitals, hosted by Assoc. Prof. Hiroshi Watanabe from the Department of Dental Radiology and Radiation Oncology. The center features state-of-the-art medical imaging technologies, including:

Photon-counting CT: Advanced technology that provides superior image resolution and enhanced diagnostic efficiency.

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI): Systems designed for high-precision soft tissue pathology assessment.

These advanced tools play a crucial role in supporting clinical education and providing world-class patient care.

A primary goal of this visit was to finalize preparations for the International Experiential Learning Program, scheduled for March, where WUICD students will participate in an immersive learning experience. This visit also serves as a foundation for long-term strategic partnerships between the two institutions.

This collaboration reflects the vision of the International College of Dentistry, Walailak University, to elevate dental education to international standards. The college remains committed to developing world-class competencies in its students across academic excellence, innovative research, and sustainable clinical skills.
