Walailak University International College of Dentistry (WUICD) Empowers Students through Real-World Clinical Experience at the Royal Mobile Dental Unit, Nakhon Si Thammarat
On January 19–20, 2026, the Walailak University International College of Dentistry (WUICD), led by Associate Professor Dr. Poonsak Pisek, Dean, and Professor Dr. Pattama Nathaphakti, accompanied first-year dental students to participate in the “Royal Mobile Dental Unit under His Majesty the King” at the City Hall, Nakhon Si Thammarat Municipality.
This initiative is a vital mission to uphold the royal vision for public health by providing comprehensive dental services to the public free of charge. Services included fillings, extractions, scaling, wisdom tooth surgery, root canal treatments, as well as crowns and dentures—all aimed at enhancing the well-being and quality of life for the local community.
Experiential Learning: Elevating Professional Skills to International Standards Beyond community service, this activity served as a crucial “out-of-classroom learning experience” for dental students, focusing on developing key professional dimensions:
Professional Excellence: Students practiced clinical procedures under the close supervision of expert faculty members, building confidence and preparing for their future careers as dental professionals.
Communication Arts and Holistic Care: Students developed essential interpersonal skills by engaging with a diverse range of patients. They learned to effectively communicate treatment plans and build patient trust, which is the cornerstone of patient-centered care.
Social Responsibility: The program fostered a spirit of public service and a commitment to sustainable community oral healthcare—a core identity of Walailak University graduates.
